Hello my name is Chris, and I'm fundraising for Football Aid 2014, a sports charity based here in the United Kingdom. Football Aid gives the chance for football (soccer) fans the opportunity to play at their favourite teams ground. Be it for 45 minutes or the full 90. The games are refereed by volunteers, and the clubs provide personalised official team kit. In 2014, I'm playing again for Blackburn Rovers, this time for the entire 90 minutes. Whilst the cause is fantastic, and the money goes to a variety of charities as chosen by Football Aid. It does cost a fair amount, to take part. Even more so on a part time wage. But saying that, I'd gladly depart with a whole months wage to take part in the 90 minute match, knowing I'm making a difference. I've already contributed £360 ($590) and I just hope to raise another £100. The events are recorded on DVD for posterity, and depending on how good or bad you play, clips end up on YouTube, normally for competitions such as Goal of the Season, Miss of the Season, Save of the Season, or just all general purpose highlights. You can be sure I'll be buying the DVD this time to share with everyone the fantastic joy that is Football Aid... or just falling on my face in the mud.
Any funds I gather over £100 will be donated to Epilepsy Research UK, which is a specifically personal charity choice.
