Chris and Sarah’s Wedding Fund

Our love began in the late 90's. She was my high school sweet heart, my prom date, my first true love...

Alas, like so many young loves, we parted ways; left with little more than memories of what was and dreams of what could have been. Seemingly entire lives were lived as the lingering flames of passion slowly faded over the years.

Then the fates found a way to give us another chance. Upside down on my mortgage, laid off, and without local employment options I left my home and moved in with my parents to find work. Refusing to walk away from a debt, however, my checks did, and still do, pay for the abandoned home.

All this, of course, put me in the right place at the right time to reply to a Facebook request for help moving. For which I have no regrets. Sarah, this girl I had once known so well, was coming out of a divorce and setting off on her own with her two young children. From that first day I helped her move it was like no time had passed. We picked up where we'd left off almost immediately despite more then a decade apart. Never once did she judge me for the debts I carried with me or question how I would fit in to the new life she was making for herself and her children. She simply accepted and loved me for who I was and I loved her and her children just as much.

To try to make a long story short, in August of 2012 I proposed to her and she said yes. We have pinched every penny we can, sold what we could, and borrowed from friends and family to fund our wedding this November. Seeing the dollars signs add up quickly on the hall, the caterer, the cake, the DJ, and of course the honeymoon I am reaching out to the World Wide Web to help me give the woman I love everything she deserves on her special night.

No donation is to small. I remember a story of a boy who funded his way through college by asking for pennies in a local newspaper. I do not dream of raising that much but, for every penny I will have the same gratitude as every dollar because I know how rough times are for everyone in this economy.
