Chris and Linda Kanellopoulos – Athens, Greece

Update posted by Nikoleta Stratigea On Mar 03, 2018

Our friend Linda & her husband Christos have encountered major medical & financial difficulties since Chris suffered a major stroke on December 26, 2017. Linda also has been facing her own health issues that require immediate attention, but has put everything on hold to help her husband recover while he’s at the National Rehabilitation Center in Ilion, Greece.
Christos is a singer & has entertained audiences for more than 35 years. While performing, he collapsed & was rushed to the General Hospital of Athens where it was determined he had had a stroke that has impacted his speech & left him paralyzed on the right side. Chris was then transfnerred to the rehab center on January 31 of this year.
Unable to work & pay bills, Linda’s facing the utilities being shut off at their home & the taxes on the house are overdue. The amount they’ve been able to get from the government is very low since Greece’s austerity program went into effect.
Due to large medical costs to treat Chris for the various complications from the stroke and the loss of income not being able to sing, the family has hit major financial set back. They have no way to pay for all the medical bills required to give Christos the treatment he needs to heal and also keep paying the costs of their home, such as the electric bill and other utilities. Alhough the long term recovery prognosis is good for Chris’ health such that the doctors believe he will be able to speak again through intensive therapy and he may regain partial to full use of the right side of the body, right now they do not know how the family will be able to handle all the medical expenses needed to pay for this while at the same time the loss of his employment income during this long recovery period.

Please consider helping them as they struggle through this difficult time. Any amount would be most appreciated.
