Chloe the Lab is so Sick AND Badly Needs Your Help!

This is CHLOE, our black Lab mix who was given to us by a family friend 5 years ago. They already have lots of dogs and they cannot afford to have additional pets anymore, so they kindly have us adopt Chloe. She came to us not more than a month old, and we had to nurse her to health and bottle fed her until she gained strength and grew to be a very lovely, docile, and friendly family member anyone could wish for. We treasure her like a little child and she always stayed inside the house on the warm summers and cold rainy seasons.

Things were going very well with Chloe until she gave birth a year ago to three pups. We were so overjoyed, but when Chloe started to behave a little odd, we noticed that something was wrong with her.

She would not nurse her puppies and they unfortunately died. And then Chloe would not stop bleeding (menstruating). The blood, which would normally smell a little fishy, started to smell REALLY off. Pus discharged from her vulva, making the smell worse. Chloe still behaved normally and ate well like she always does, but when this red mass started peeking out from her vulva, we got very worried.

We took Chloe to a local vet, and we were told that Chloe had an 'infection' that have been brought about by her having pups. The vet said that Chloe has to undergo surgery but we hesitated because the vet did not even perform the most basic of checkups (i.e. blood tests, x-ray, ultrasound, etc.) He just took Chloe's body temperature and took a 5 second - peek of the mass on her vulva and then declared that Chloe has to undergo surgery, or else she will die. We did not trust the vet's very quick diagnosis so we went to another vet on another city (vets are really scarce in our country, but more about that later). He performed ultrasound and confirmed that Chloe has Pyometra, an infection on the uterus that can be deadly if left untreated because it will poison the dog's bloodstream and possibly shutting down the kidneys and other vital organs.

The vet said we need $1500 to cover ALL medical expenses and fees including the antibiotics, hospital stay, vet fees, IV's, surgery fee, checkups before and after the surgery, etc.

The problem is, WE CANNOT AFFORD THE MONEY. For an average family here in the Philippines, $1500 is equivalent to almost half, or even 2/3 a year of salary.

Believe it or not, there are NO local shelters and animal hospitals in our area/country. There are like, 2-5 animal hospitals in the capital, but it's a 4 hour-drive and they charge monstrous money only the rich can afford. There are a few vet clinics, but like the first vet we went to, they want to operate Chloe because of the money without even checking her thoroughly. You cannot expect help from the local government, either.

We are really trying our best to get help for Chloe, so here am I, asking for your help to save Chloe's life. She's not eating much now, and all she wanted is water and few soft food, which she often rejects, too.

Here are some of her pictures. NOTE: Some may be graphic.

Chloe as she drinks water. You can see the mass on her vulva even if she's sitting!

PLEASE HELP CHLOE. She has no one to ask financial help for, and even if we want to have her undergo surgery, the cost is just too much for only us to bear. Many people we asked for help told us to just "get another dog", and that "maybe it's her time to die", and it breaks our hearts! Chloe is not just a dog; she's a family, a loyal friend, and a faithful companion. It is never right for us to just let her perish without even trying to get help for her.

We are knocking in your generous hearts to please donate for Chloe's cause. Any help is deeply appreciated. Thank you so much for caring!
