Hi. I'm Chiwah. Writer, small indie publisher and speaker—with a dream. I want to do my part to save this Earth, and motivate others to do the same!

My dream has come true! I just received an email notifying me Al Gore’s crew has accepted me into their Climate Reality Training. It happens the first weekend in August, in Minneapolis.

Applying for it required a leap of faith.

Because unfortunately, without your help, I don't have the funds to seize this opportunity.

Though I live frugally, I have to work to stretch my monthly Social Security and Disability checks to cover my living expenses. I edit and design books, but, as my tax forms remind me every April, the income from those services barely covers the costs of doing business on the Internet. I need your help to raise $1500 to pay for airfare, hotel, meals, and car rental while I'm in Minneapolis.

My mission in life is to “get the word out.” That’s why I’ve published two magazines and written the articles on nuclear waste you may have read in The Life Connection magazine.

Readers responded to my nuclear waste articles by writing letters to newspaper editors and to their governmental representatives. But I want to make a bigger impact. Since our government is not doing its job on either issue, it’s up to us!

Why should you help? I look to this training to help me launch myself as a speaker and inspire more people to take action. Specifically, I want to speak to parents, kids and teens and light a spark and fan it into a blazing fire of family activism on climate change and nuclear waste safety.

Why Family Activism? As our core social unit, families can be powerful agents of change. We need families to step up NOW. We need kids, teens and their parents to join together in writing letters to editors, speaking to audiences, speaking out at relevant local meetings, running online radio shows, writing and recording climate change and nuclear safety songs on the Web—and so much more! This double challenge is huge. Victory is still possible, but it will require that we, the people, step up in a big way.
