There are 157 Million Orphans worldwide and 5,700 children are added to that number EACH day.

As Americans we often take for granted simple basic luxuries like running water, electricity, access to food and shelter as well as clothing and basic safety for our children.

Gods Care Childrens Foundation in Uganda is a orphanage that serves the needs of abandoned or orphaned children in Uganda Africa.

I have worked with this organization for about a year providing clothing, schooling, shoes and water.

Due to COVID this school as well as many schools (orphanages) around the world have been severely impacted by humanitarian efforts becoming limited.

What I love so much about this organization is that they ask for items and funding that will help allow them to be more self sustaining: Example: You can purchase them a goat for $40 so they have an ongoing supply of fresh milk.

This campaign specifically is a fundraising effort to help the girls of this school learn a trade so when they age out of the orphanage they will have a skill and trade that will allow them to provide for themselves and their families thus stopping the cycle of making the next generation of orphans.

They are asking for $6200 for the following:

Sewing Machines 25 each costing $200

Sewing materials cost us $1250

Trainer /Teaching staff free service.

Totoal Project Funds needed.

$6250

From Edward who runs the school:

For a couple of months we have engaged our children on what they think we can do for now. We have also considered what will keep them safe from community challenges, (especially our girl children). We have been working together with the authorities.

All our children are ready to get skilled in the vocational side of studies. We have engaged the authorities, since we are a charity organization which is looking at empowerment of these young children, and they have allowed us to have our vocational activities kick off.

For the above matter one of my college friends, Jennifer, is willing to give our children lessons on Tailoring. We are now looking for ways of getting sewing machines and purchasing the materials they can use in the learning process.

This will be very beneficial to all our children, to get skills in fashion and design through Tailoring. Moreover, it will keep our girl children busy, hence keeping them away from community temptations (since they are growing very fast).

Let's get our skills center going! It will not only help our children, the skills center will also help others. Later, after Covid, when the authorities allow, we will also offer this skills training to other children in the community who don't have access to education but can get these skills to sustain them for life.
