Children’s Safe House Living Costs

Around 2pm one summer afternoon, I called a children's safe house office number to arrange a meeting, and an out of breath woman hurriedly answered the phone. She was personally driving a child to a hospital, and before I could organize anything, the call cut out. I figured she had much more important things to deal with, and was struck by her personal investment in the lives of every child in her care. Her dedication and love is rare in today's world.

This children's safe house is run mostly by one loving woman, who has taken on the responsibility of fulfilling the idea that love changes everything. The safe house has an extensive wish list, including everything from pasta to electricity bills, antiseptic ointment and washing powder. This safe house is not an especially wealthy one, and is a registered NPO.

As students, we are working to raise funds to tick off some of the most important and difficult items on the wishlist, but overall we'd like to be able to make a big dent in the living costs of each child at the safe house to ease the burden in order for them to focus on other areas of these children's needs, like play, love, learning and health.
