Hackney has one of the highest rates of child poverty in London as well being ranked as one the most deprived borough .Many families barely have any money to provide enough provision for their family, resulting in them going hungry for a few days, missing key meals such as breakfast and having to ration their food and eating very small portions. Young families are relying on food banks in order to make ends meet, this should not be the case in Britain but sadly it is. Someone has to do something to make a change and we can! , we must act now as it is predicted 5 million children will be living in poverty by 2020 .How blessed are we that we are not living in poverty and that we have more than enough provisions to last us but families out there are struggling, how painful must it be knowing that you can afford to provide breakfast for your child. Children’s lunch club is aimed to help the families facing these difficulties and ease a little bit off their financial costs. By providing free hot meals to children under 16 especially from poverty stricken families, this maybe their only hot meal of the weekend, who knows? By successfully launching this project, we can develop our community .Kids necessarily don’t have to be facing difficulties to attend, it will be opened for all children and we can work together to create a confortable, reassuring and fun environment for all. It will hopefully run every weekend if we have sufficient funds. Lets tackle child poverty together .
