Campaign Story
The Campaign is to raise funds for children at Hands of Hope Community (HHC) which is a school and home based care for children and young people with intellectual disabilities(ID). These children are the most marginalised people group in Cambodia. It is only in the last 5 years that children with ID are beginning to be recognised and are now beginning to access education. The Majority of children with special needs are still hidden away and you very rarely see children with ID in the streets. This means parents cannot work and most of these families are very poor. HHC also helps parents whose children attend HHC to start up a business. There are 150 children and young people in the programme and this year it looks likely that it will increase to 200. However HHC do not have enough funds to cover the existing costs.
The Campaign is to raise funds for:-
1. Raising profile of children with special needs In Cambodia
2. Finding children with special needs in the communities who do not attend school.
3. Food for the children
4. Staff Salaries
5. Helping parents start up a business
6 .Being an inclusive school by learning and playing together through play
