Hello, my name is Kristyna.

I am a student in the third year of psychology in Paris, passionate about clinical and developmental psychology and especially the work with children and adolescents. I was born in Prague, in the Czech Republic. In 2016, I came to Paris where I decided to pursue my studies in psychology. Meanwhile, I tutored English the French children and also got the chance to work with orphans (a group of 15-20, aged 2-7yo) last summer in a medical clinic in Prague. This genuine experience made me realize how important the first years of childhood are important.

Therefore, I would like to pursue my experience and get to know the life of children in India. I seek to educate, care and harmonize the environment of the children the best way possible. This opportunity would allow me to comprehend the cross-cultural differences and participate in the development of childcare, well-being and conditions for a better change in the life of children.

Furthermore, I am willing to pursue studies of clinical and developmental psychology for the master program next year and this experience would be a part of my bachelor research on education and childcare in South Asian countries in order to promote early childhood development.

I have chosen to volunteer with 'International Volunteer HQ' because they provide internships and volunteering across 40 countries and especially in India in New Delhi which is known for its large number of orphans. This volunteering will provide support to these underprivileged and uncared for children to alleviate their suffering by helping them live a dignified life. These children are given refuge in orphanages and shelter homes, being run by various non-government organisations throughout the city.

The placement for 4 weeks cost 450€ (excluding flights, insurance, visa, vaccinations). The funds will go towards the programme, as for the children along the duration of my placement.

Please find more information about the following programme here: https://www.volunteerhq.org/volunteer-in-india-del...

Furthermore, I would like to understand the roots of the yoga philosophy by attending the teachings of the locals in order to support mental health as mind and body are intimately connected and bring those finding to the Western culture. I feel that we need to open mind and listen more to the body than the actual mind. Currently, I work in a yoga therapeutic environment for patients dealing with chronic diseases and I feel honoured to have this opportunity to deepen my practice and to connect my approach of mental health with holistic medicine while visiting a country of its spirit.

I am already genuinely thankful for even just reading my motivations and appreciate any donation you decide to make. Your contribution will help those children in need providing them with a secure present and a promising future.

Sincerely, Kristyna
