Childcare volunteering: Costa Rica

I am deciding to volunteer in Costa Rica from July 29th-August 19th with the childcare program. The project I am working on focuses on improving outcomes of children that come from difficult backgrounds in San Jose. I have always had a strong desire to help all the people I can and spread positivity/happiness. People from all around the world volunteer to help, and I am hoping to make new friends. I will be placed in an orphanage, kindergarten, daycare or community center and spend most of my time interacting with the kids. Organizing games and activities, helping with homework, making crafts and teaching proper hygiene is a lot of what I will be doing. The volunteers work Monday-Friday, meaning they have weekends and evenings to go out and explore the beautiful area. I am beyond excited to absorb myself into a new culture, meet new people, help guide kids in a positive direction, make memories, and adventure more of this amazing planet.
