Chevonne’s USA Luge Dream

My name is Chevonne Forgan and I am a 14 year old living in Chelmsford MA. I am seeking your support to help me achieve my dream of becoming a Winter Olympian in the sport of Luge.

I am currently a member of the USA Luge Junior National ‘C’ Team. As a member of the team, I am responsible for most expenses which will total nearly $10,000 in 2014. This includes:

• $4700 in annual dues
• $3700 for the November 2014 training camp in Lillehammer, Norway
• Travel to/from the Olympic Training facility at Lake Placid, NY
• Training and racing equipment

My goal for 2014 is to raise $3700 for the November 2014 training camp in Lillehammer, Norway. We will fly out on November 22, arrive Norway November 23, slide November 24-29 and fly home on November 30.

About My Luge Career

In August 2012, I was fortunate to be selected for the USA Luge Junior National ‘D’ team. This team consists of athletes who show potential for the sport but are young and have not yet had the years of experience on the sled necessary to excel. Since then, I have spent many weeks training at the Olympic Training facility at Lake Placid, NY.

 As part of the ‘D’ team, I medaled at my first two competitions earlier this year:

• Bronze Medal, Empire State Games (Lake Placid, New York), February 2014
• Silver Medal, National Youth Championships (Lake Placid, New York), March 2014

In May 2014, I was chosen for the USA Luge Junior National ‘C’ team. This team consists of athletes that the coaching staff feel have a chance to qualify for, and successfully race at, the Junior National Team level. As part of the ‘C’ team I will spend 5 weeks training during the summer vacation and approximately 3 months during winter at the Olympic Training center at Lake Placid. I will also have the opportunity to travel with the team to other tracks within the USA and overseas.
