I am currently enrolled at Mediatech Institute of Recording Arts in Austin Tx.  I graduate in December of 2014. Im in the process of applying for many 'grants' and 'scholorships' that are WIDELY available to women who are divorced and returning to school, to cover my living expenses until I graduate..It is a very long process gathering all the necessary paperwork & documents for these grants, but Im very confident 'something' will come thru. In the mean time... Im basically about to be homeless (theoretically) I have a few people I can call up to crash on their couch..if necessary.. my roommates are moving to N. Austin, Im currently in S. Austin about 5 min. away from my school and my kids. I barely have money for gas to get to school as it is... eating has become a luxury... I spend most of my time at school..some days Im there for 12 hours. Its a 2 year Recording Arts degree in 1 year..so insted of covering a chapter a week..we cover a chapter a 'day' with final exams every friday. Class is 3.5 hours M-F and we have a 'minimum' requirement of 6 hours per week in the studio labs. I put in close to the 'maximum' requirement of studio lab time per week, because its the only way Im going to be the 'best' at what I do. There are MANY career options that stem from an Audio Engineer Degree.. anything from running live sound for local/national bars/clubs...or local/national bands on tour.. I will be pro tools certified as well, giving me many career opportunities in the recording business. I will also be able to work in post production audio for film/video... the possibilites are endless and they all pay very well. Its going to be a very challenging year, but I know Im on the right path.. this IS what I am really really good at..and Im determined to be sucessful beyond my wildest dreams.
