Updated 07/17:

Chen is my younger sister. She has been suffering symptoms of Achalasia (difficulty in swallowing food) since 5 or so, but was only diagnosed last year December 2017. Just this year, after her graduation she could no longer bare the pain and had difficulty swallowing even soft food. We admitted her last June 23, 2018, and she stayed in the hospital for more than 2 weeks.

The doctor frankly told us that her "Achalasia" is already at late stage, it could have been better if known/treated earlier. There's no better option, but surgery.

She has undergone 2 procedures:
1) Laparoscopic Heller Cardiomyotomy; 2) Dor Fundoplication

The operation took around 3 hours. She was in the recovery room for more than 12 hours. (see picture at upper-left). Normally, patients after operation would stay in the recovery room for just around 2-3hrs. but not in her case. Her condition was critical. The tube inserted through his mouth was to help her lungs breath since during the operation her lungs collapsed (as per doc) and the level of carbon dioxide was very high. She was supposed to be in ICU, but thank God it didn't happen, and was transferred to patient's room the next day.

The operation is done, but there is a small leak - the cut is around 5mm. Since the size of her esophagus is 3x than normal (due to some food unable to pass through the stomach), and the lining is so thin that the doctor cut some part of it. Normally, it would heal around 2-3 days, but in the case of my sister it's not healing after 5 days because of lack of protein (malnutrition developed over time).

After the operation, she is not allowed to take any food (No per Oral) even water for the next 9 days. Her main supplement to sustain (aside from dextrose) is passed through the veins and is very costly. Price of Nutriflex is PHP 5-7k good for 1 day only; PHP 45k+ just for 9 days of supplement).

She has also undergone Endoscopy. The doctor inserted a metal stent (this alone is PHP 60k+) in her Esophagus just to cover the cut that caused the leakage when food/liquid passes through. It will be removed after 3-4 weeks, just enough time for the wound/cut to heal. At least for now, my sister can already intake liquid (after 9 days of No food/water). And is still in liquid diet for more than 2 weeks already.

The reason for this cause is to raise funds for her medical expenses.

Our hospital bill has already exceeded what's covered in my insurance. Our hospital bill has reached PHP 300k+ including Professional/Doctors' fees. Since our account is already closed, we have to buy medicines, supplements needed and other laboratory expenses out of our own pocket. We already spent PHP 200k+ just for the medicines, & supplements alone which cost PHP 10-15k+ a day. And with the above being said, we need your support for her ongoing medical expenses.

A BIG THANK YOU for those who take time to include my little sister in your prayers (for her fast recovery) and for your financial support as well.

May GOD BLESS us all.
