Chemotherapy for Amy

Hi Everyone

My name is Amy, I am 26 and I was recently diagnosed with stage 4 diffuse large B cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. I was involved in a car accident in October 2022, which caused my spleen to be ruptured and swell to double its original size, this was determined to be life threatening and was removed in November. Since that time, in the area of the abdomen where the spleen used to be, they have found a large cancerous tumor. I have also tested positive for Hepatitis B, which will affect my liver greatly during the treatment.

All of this happened to me very suddenly, I never thought this would happen because I hve always been healthy, rarely getting sick or going to the doctor. This has greatly affected the financial situation of myself and those close to me. Before the accident I had recently qualified as a graphic designer, had started working full time for a good company and have been paying off my student loans. I have been on and off of work which has exhausted my sick leave and I have started chemotherapy treatment which has greatly affected my ability to work.

This is a cancer that forms in the white blood cells called Lymphocytes. These are the cells that fight bacteria and viruses. When you have B-Cell Lymphoma your body makes too many abnormal B-Cells which make them unable to fight infections. They also spread to other parts of your body through your Lymphatic system.
