Chemotheraphy for Carlo Angelo

My name is Carlo Angelo Asuncion and I have been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma Stage 4 Cancer. I have been battling this disease for almost 2 years. Since I don’t have enough funds for my treatment I cannot proceed with the needed tests on time. My condition first appeared last July 2020 and it mutated from small lymph nodes to 1 inch of open wound. We tried treating the disease through antibiotics until June 2021 but it was no use. My doctor has advised us to proceed with biopsy but it had to be delayed due to lack of funds. We were able to finish the biopsy in October 2021.

I was scheduled for chemotherapy last December 2021 but before I can start the treatment I will still need to have a PET CT Scan which is really expensive; we still had to wait for the government to help us but it took 2 months before we were able to finish the test. Because of the constant delays of my treatment my case has been getting worse.

Now I am having complications from the lungs due to pleural effusion caused by my condition. The open wound is now infected and has already expanded to 8 inches. The wound has to be debrided first but I have no choice but to delay it again due to the lack of funds for the procedure. This coming May I am scheduled for chemo but we cannot proceed if it will be continuously delayed due to this financial problem.

Prior to my medical condition, I was nearing the completion of my college studies in media communication—unfortunately, I have now been under leave of absence for the past two and a half years now. I was supposed to graduate this 2022 but due to my current state of haven’t been treated yet, I have to delay my graduation as well. This has made it difficult for me to finish my studies and pursue my dream of becoming a journalist. It is only my mother who is supporting me right now and she's already retired, thus making our financial condition much more difficult.

Any amount of help will go a long way! Apart from my mom, it is my hopes and aspirations that still keep me going. I can no longer delay my procedure because the lymph nodes have been growing aggressively and it could spread so fast that it will no longer be treatable.
