Cheesecake's Story

Cheesecake is a rabbit that is only 2 ¼ years old. When we first got him, he was around 1 month old. He is an adorable ball of fluff and is very special to me. Nothing can replace his personality and love. We have naps together and he is always by my side when I’m sad.

Cheesecake's medical condition

He has a medical condition that is called dental abscess. An abscess is a localized collection of pus contained within a cavity somewhere in the body. Rabbit abscesses are filled with thick, creamy or dried-out pus, surrounded by a capsule of scar tissue. This is happening in two of cheesecakes back teeth. Air pockets are also forming inside his jaw which is not normal for a rabbit. Because of this it is causing him a lot of pain.

Despite his pain and fear he is still playing and eating! He is fighting his pain so bravely! Due to the abscess a dental surgery will have to be done on him as soon as possible. As of now the earliest date for his surgery is 25th February. The vet has informed us an estimation of the surgery cost of approximately $2000 (Singapore Dollars). Post-surgery he will have to stay on medical boarding which will cost between $200-$500. My parents have already spent $724 (Singapore Dollars) on his doctor visits and medical boarding so far. They cannot afford the surgery and post-surgery care. Unfortunately, the only alternative to surgery is supportive care at home till he reaches a stage where he has to be put to sleep. Cheesecake has been fighting this pain, and we must not let his will to live go in waste! We love him a lot and I really don’t want him to leave me! He has fought this until now we cannot give up yet!
