Hello my name is Paul Raistrick.
My aim is to raise the necessary funds to buy back the project car my dad and I worked on before he passed away. The reason for this is the many memories I have of my dad related to this car. This may seem silly, but please keep reading.
My dad, Keith Raistrick, passed away very quickly early last year in my matric year from brain cancer, this left my family and I in shock. I feel that I have learnt much for my situation and have grown drastically, I would say I have matured faster than I would have if he were still alive.
Currently, I am a first year Mechanical Engineering Student at the university of Pretoria studying on a bursary. I know my dad would be proud as he always supported me in my academic career up to this point.
The reason this car means so much to me is because many of my favourite memories I have of my dad are related to this car. Like when I sat in the drivers seat and pumped the brakes while my dad connected the brake-lines to the calipers, or when I told him there was something stuck in the radiator...only to push the hooter giving him the biggest fright I was ever able to give him, I was very proud!
My dad and I spent many hours around the car driving it as well as rebuilding it, we had many laughs and meaningful life related discussions while we worked on the car. Unfortunately I was too young to drive the car when it belonged to my dad, when he sold the car he gave me his driving shoes and told me that one day I would find a reason to use them, I believe this is that moment. Now that I am older I hope to enjoy many of my own moments with my dad's memory in mind.
Some of you may have known my dad and if you did I'm sure you remember the positive, lively man I remember. I know that this car was the reason he met some of you in the Lotus Club and other driving circles.
Thank you for reading my story. If you can afford it, I ask you to please donate to my cause, I will be eternally grateful!
If you have any questions please contact me using [email protected] I do have a Paypal account that you can find on this page, but if at all possible can you please deposit money directly into my account, I will send you the account number in an email to you personally as Paypal does not accommodate the Rand, I need to raise R100000 not $100000, I apologize for the confusion.
If this campaign is successful I will launch one in an effort to raise money for a charity of my choosing to contribute back to our community.
I thank you for your donations in advance. Paul Raistrick
