2 years ago Tim and I moved to a beautiful area with great hiking trails right in our backyard, perfect for taking our dog Charlie for walks. Charlie, named after the character from the movie ?All Dogs Go to Heaven? is my rascal of a dog that I rescued 10 years ago from a shelter at a very discounted rate due to his unfriendly demeanor. As a college student living in a rough area of Las Vegas I needed a companion for protection and when I first saw Charlie I just knew he could be a great dog if given the chance. Little did I know, Charlie?s past abuse and lack of human contact prevented him from trusting humans and it took him several weeks to even come close to me, but needless to say we?ve been best friends ever since he decided to trust.Charlie is approximately 11 years old now and has come a long way since his aggressive days, but now he is facing another struggle to overcome; he recently tore his ACL, Patella Tendon and sustained some deep lacerations after sneaking out of his deck area confinement. He had partially torn his ACL 2 years ago, but the Vets say it?s now complete and his other leg may soon follow. ACL?s can only be fixed through surgery, but due to his age and the extremely expensive procedure we do not want to take this recommendation. Instead we are hoping to purchase a brace for his leg, which will allow Charlie to live out his senior years in style and most importantly walking comfortably. We are asking for any donation to help us get our guy back on his feet, no amount is too small.
Thanks for reading our story
