I believe in using crafting to make a positive difference in the world.................. Hello and welcome to my fundraising page, my name is Leigh and I am CharityCrafter, I have a current DBS (enhanced), and I currently volunteer for Farleigh Hospice in chelmsford, as their outreach crafter, but this is only part of a free service I provide. I work with a local childrens centre, young carers, elderly residential homes, housebound people and many other people that are living with difficult circumstances. I help people with terminal illnesses, isolation, dementia, anxiety and many other issues, that crafting can help people express themselves, be creative and concentrate on the positive in life, crafting is a recognised therapy for many life-limiting and debilitating conditions. I have a blog that documents what I do, which I would love if you popped by.  Through my charity crafting I donate many many craft items, projects, gifts and cards to charities to sell, and help fledgeling and grass-roots charities, learn how they can turn everyday items into fundraisers. The reason I need your help is all this I do for free! The travel, the materials, the packaging, the workshops, everything I do is not charged for, as I mainly work with people that for many reasons (financial just one of them) would not otherwise have access to crafting or the company and therapy it can offer. Although I love what I do, and give my time, materials and resources freely, sadly lack of funds restrict what I can do. When you are making a memory book with someone with a terminal illness, or helping a young carer, to scrapbook about 'them' and their life an what they enjoy, taking them away from their young world of caring, being unable to help should not be an option, but sadly it is x If you feel that crafting with people with disabilities, life limiting or terminal illness, young carers, isolated or elderly people and helping fledgling charities raise money is a valuable and worthwhile cause, please feel free to donate craft items or funds.
