Please Help Charcoal!

Charcoal, my funny, playful and always entertaining 13 year old domestic short-haired kitten, was diagnosed with Feline Leukemia (FeLV) two weeks ago.

She began to lose interest in her food, became quiet and lethargic. I took her to the vet at Animal Ark and they found that her spleen was enlarged. They did a scan and blood test and found that she is FeLV+

She urgently needed a blood transfusion as her platelet count was low, 18.5% compared to the normal 30%. Fortunately, I managed to find a donor (thank you Theresa & Mochi!) and the blood transfusion was done the next day. They managed to get 30ml of blood for the transfusion.

The transfusion helped a little but a few days later, her platelet count began to fall.

It is heartbreaking that Charcoal, who always loved her food, isn’t eating or drinking on her own. She requires syringe feeding and IV Fluid Therapy. In addition, she also requires weekly injections of T-Cyte and Darbepoetin and a blood test.

This is where you can help.

Charcoal will be staying at the Animal Ark during weekdays as I am working. She comes home on the weekends, where I can syringe feed her both food and water every few hours.

The weekly stay at Animal Ark comes up to about $1000 a week, including all her blood tests, injections, IV Fluid Therapy, food and hospital care. I have already spent $4270 on Charcoal’s medical care. I really need your help with the cost of her weekly stay at Animal Ark.
