Changing Lives of Impoverished Youth

Short Summary

We are raising funds from donors who believe that the less fortunate youth should have the same access to learning.  No donation is too small or large.  We intend to bridge the learning gaps for these children so that we can increase their chances of becoming more productive citizens.  It helps to understand where certain industries are going in the future so we can help prepare today’s youth into becoming tomorrow’s contributors. Currently, the education levels of impoverished youth in Peru is very low and we are focused on reversing this trend by teaching valuable skills that will allow the kids to grown into productive citizens. One recurring theme kept surfacing as I traveled throughout my country.  Many of the impoverished youth had so much potential if only given the opportunity to learn and provided with a positive learning environment. We decided to invest in the kids by identifying learning gaps such as communication. Our first pilot program will consist of teaching English as a second language. We have gained a lot of traction in the high tech arena as we intend to leverage online teaching programs, tablet utilization, and cutting edge learning techniques to enhance the learning process. We have identified teachers in Peru who have committed to invest measurable time every week volunteering with the test group of children. We have located and secured appropriate learning space where the children will be taught. Global entrepreneur who's traveled extensively throughout Latin America, Europe, and US.  Committed to reducing the educational gap felt by impoverished youth in Latin America.

What We Need

We are raising $25,000 USD to pay for tablets PCs (one per child), online learning programs, and classroom space.  Our overhead will cover teachers, electricity, high speed internet. Your donation will allow us to teach English to impoverished youth in Peru who would never have an opportunity to become bilingual.

The Impact

We are working with successful executives who attended the top universities. A strong emphasis of our program will utilize best practices learned from successful people in an attempt to model the fundamentals down to the kids.  This modeling will enhance learning and contribute to the potential of the child to contribute to his or her respective community.

Risks & Challenges

The inherent risks of the project focus on having enough teachers to teach and controlling the number of children in the program during the initial startup.  We certainly plan to scale the program but want to grow conservatively in order to maximize effective learning. We've already secured a learning space and have identified a backup roster of teachers who've committed to volunteer their time to teach.
