Campaign Story
Hi, my name is Zoe. Im 24 years old and have an ambition to have a good life. Not too much to ask for right? I have been through a fair bit and at age 6 became legally blind in one eye due to an accident with scissors. This is after being born with hearing impairments in both ears. Recently ive also been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.
Im desperate to not fall into a position where i cannot be happy on a daily basis. I realise i struggle most days now to do a job i love of working in an office due to my impairments and disability.
Im looking to save and fundraise towards getting a sports chair.. this will enable me to keep active and healthy even on the bad days. Ive been fortunate recently to have made some fantastic friends this year who have introduced me to the potential of para atheltics. I AM HOOKED! Im desperate to compete in field events like seated throws for shot and discuss but also very interested in wheelchair tennis.
The problem is unfortunately i dont have the money to persue any of these on any great level at the moment so am asking for friends and family to spread my story and if you can spare even £1 it would make the difference to me being stuck inside not being able to work or move or potentially being out and about daily competing and meeting new people.
Im also looking along the way to raise awareness of Fibromyalgia and how it can affect young people. Its annoying how many times i get told im "too young" to be suffering with it!
Sports like Shot, Discus and Wheechair Tennis are not only enjoyable socially but amazing in regards to fitness and personal advancement. Combine those with the gym and im losing weight and my fitness it getting better.
I will not be stopped no matter what my body does or doesnt do...
Many thanks in advance for any help and support. Very much appreciated x
