Hi everyone! My name is Cez Reyes, a 27-year-old Marketing professional, married, with one beautiful son.

Last July 27, I was schedule to undergo a LapChole procedure in St. Luke’s Medical Center QC. It was supposed to be a 3-day stay in the hospital since it’s just a simple gallbladder removal. Apparently, my case was severe and complicated already that the surgeon was forced to do an open Biliary Surgery right there and then.

I dreaded for the discharge day because I know that we do not have the money to fund the medical bills. My husband and I depended on our HMO insurance (the original LapChole procedure and 3day stay was supposed to be covered by it and Philhealth with no cash out) and didn’t expect that my case was at its worst already. Three days became a week, then was extended up to almost two weeks because the complexity of the surgery and my recovery took longer than expected (this is a different story). And as expected, our medical bills piled up that exceeded our HMO limit.

Our medical bills shot up to almost half a million. Thankfully, with the help of our HMO and my loving family, we were able to pay at least 70% of our hospital bills enough for me to go home on the 12th day. We asked for a promissory note from the hospital and from the doctors to allow us to make staggered payments on the remaining balance while we figure out where to get the money and luckily we were allowed to settle the it via installment basis.

The past year wasn’t very kind to us. We struggled financially because of bad decisions in the past, still we decided to live according to what we think will be best for our little family – and because of this unexpected and unwanted illness, we are really in a negative state. To top it all off, my husband and I are not yet entitled to paid leaves which means, our only source of income will be temporarily cut due to series of absences.

I know this is a long shot and this is nothing compared to other death-defying illnesses you see that needs financial assistance. Its the least that I can do to help the people around me.

We don’t have anything to offer in return but rest assured that you will be included in our prayers.

Any amount will be much appreciated and will go a long way. :)

You can deposit it in the following bank accounts. Thank you!
