Cerebral Palsy Woman Needs Brace

My friend was born with cerebral palsy, She was the first child that had an operation on her leg and foot with success at the Children's Hospital in Boston. She wore a brace for a while until she did well without it and could walk. But the doctors told her parents as she gets older it will get worse and painful. She is at that point now. She has pain when she walks on it for just a little while. She cannot go shopping anymore, her husband has to do all the shopping. She has an 8 year old boy to take care of. Her doctor says she needs a brace now, but her insurance wont pay for it. I don't understand that at all.
