Haalk'ab = Mayan, means 'Freedom together in liberty'

Anamu = with God's blessing

Beate with Kona and Karina

I am passionate about helping horses and creating a better life for them! There is a lot of animal and horse abuse happening in the Yucatan, and no sanctuaries to provide help. The urgency is high to not only create a place of refuge but also an educational centre.

The vision is to build community and bridge cultures to create awareness and change.

Beate with Marlene, Ismael's daughter

The care of the horses is our priority, and we are working close together with the Mayan village nearby. By sharing knowledge that has been passed down for centuries, we take care of the land together, including reforestation and permaculture. Our care taker, Ismael, and his family, has welcomed me with an open heart and warm smile, and the gentleness of the Mayan people. I am forever grateful to not only be accepted but included into their lives!

Our centre wants to provide classes for children and adults, programs and retreats, embracing the Mayan language and traditions, like crafts, dances, and story telling.

What we have already... 4 horses, soon we will receive 2 little donkeys. In total there are 6 hectares/15 acres of land, where we planted a variety of fruit and native trees and have a fenced in area with shelter for the horses. We renovated an 80 year old house as the heart of the centre, built a separate kitchen, and started to create traditional, Mayan round houses to host visitors.

We are in immediate need of... an open concept barn, corrals, an activity trail and arena and a well for water. Ongoing maintenance, health care, and food for the horses, as well as solar and wind systems to provide water and energy.

Please, be part of this beautiful vision, providing shelter, healing, and refuge for those in need!

By working together, hand in hand, we can create awareness and change, and grow together in community!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!

If you have any questions about us and our project, please do get in touch!

Our little herd says thank you!

A little information... Beate, that's me up on the page... I am an artist and writer and have worked extensively in the hospitality industry in Germany as well as in Mexico. I love horses and have over 40 years of experience riding and working with them, liberty training, communicating, bitless riding, natural hoof care, and several kinds of therapies. My rescued dogs and horses are family and I am passionate about sharing my knowledge to better the life of horses, all animals, and humans.

Haalk'ab Anamu evolved out of love and we are in the process of creating a foundation to work and live within.

Lori and I are friends of many years, love nature and animals. Lori has a diploma in tropical permaculture, as well as in human resources and business. We planned on creating this beautiful space for years and have worked hard towards our dream.

Lori and Marlene, Ismael's daughter

These days I am in contact with wonderful women who want to join this community and help us create with combined effort.

We are also open for committed people to join, so please get in contact if that speaks to you!
