Celebration of the service of Pastor J.M. Nxumalo
In life's passage, the seemingly lackluster contribution of educators who act in loco parentis to many a student who come under their care is often forgotten in the glare of later career success. Some former high school students of Mr J.M. Nxumalo have decided to raise a fund of thanksgiving for the major positive contribution of their former headmaster, deputy headmaster, history and Zulu language educator to their life success. He officially retired from active service as an educator in 2003.
What inspired this mode of appreciation was noting how most of us as people spend lavishly on the expenses of our beloved when they are deceased. The challenge is to reverse that trend and invest in people we value while they are still alive to receive and appreciate a kind gesture from those who would like to love them beyond words but with deeds as well.
In a recently recorded video message to some of his former students, Pastor Nxumalo had the following, heartfelt message to convey:
The hope is to keep this trend going into the indefinite future, for all the other living, major contributors to one's life journey. Let us send them roses while they are still alive enough to savour their scent.
