Campaign Story
Celebrate your most inspiring and impactful women on international women's day by supporting the resilient health workers, working on the Mama and Family project running in the southeastern part of Uganda.
Donate from the first of March (March 1, 2022) until March 8,2022 and let the women you celebrate know how you appreciate and thank them for having positive impacts in your life by sending them our handwritten thank you note on International women's day (March 8).
All proceeds will be directed to provide our resilient community health workers, midwife and project coordinator working on the Mama and Family project with their basic salary, financial incentive and to create a bearable working environment and delivery a quality maternal and child health service by equipping the health facility with basic birth kits.
Currently, we have a total of 12 community health workers and 1 midwife covering a total of 6 remote villages in Mayuge District in Southeastern Uganda. In the year 2021, our team provided antenatal care services for 471 pregnant women, distributed 320 birth kits, attended 138 live births through safe delivery, provided 825 home visits and a general 1663 out-patient services. Even though, we are currently having a tremendous financial constraint posed by the global COVID-19 pandemic, with this fundraising we highly aim to strengthen our project and continue impacting many lives.
A donation of as little as 34 KR covers the financial incentive of one community health worker, 42 KR covers the cost of one birth kit & 800 KR covers the monthly salary of our midwife.
Who we are:
Swedish Organization for Global Health (SOGH) is a Swedish non-profit and non-governmental organisation comprised of students and young professionals who share a passion to contribute to global health through evidence-based action.
Together with our local and international partners, we engage in conversations with local communities to co-develop projects that bring a concrete positive change and take environmental and economic sustainability into account. While supporting projects both in Sweden and in low-income countries, we use our virtual and physical platforms to bring awareness about some of the most neglected health topics, such as women’s reproductive health.
The Women in Global Health Sweden (WGH Sweden) chapter constitutes a platform for making women visible in and beyond the global health area, expanding networking opportunities for women, and providing mutual support to each other.
The chapter will advance the vision and mission of the global organization, focusing on advancing work nationally, but also regionally and globally as an active member of the growing WGH global organisation. It will serve as an easy reference to these women to be taken into consideration for leadership positions, decision-making bodies, and presentations and talks on panels and conferences.
Rewards
We will send out hand written Thank you note to the women you want to celebrate on March 8 (International Women's day) under your name.
