Philippines is no stranger to typhoons. Amidst pandemic due to Covid, typhoons became ordinary until our Cebu folks were hit by Super Typhoon Rai (Odette) last December 16, 2021. Super Typhoon Rai - with winds of about 195km/h (120mph) - affected more than 400,000 people and 9 of these are my friends and workmate from Cebu, Philippines.
I work in the PBO industry and I am based in Manila and we are currently safe. When the typhoon happened, our 9 workmates were fighting to save their lives and the safety of their families.
Currently, there is no electricity, no water, no means of communication. Their houses are damaged along with everything that they owned.
They have to travel hours just to be able to find a place in the city that has generators and can communicate with us about their conditions.
The purpose of this fundraising campaign is to help my workmates so they can at least get some financial assistance for their basic needs.
With the generosity of those who have extra to share, it means hope for our workmates to rebuild their lives and start fresh in the coming new year.
