Brief introduction

I have already published two out of seven books of my Epic Fantasy saga called Chronicles of Koiné. The first volume (The Five Races) has been getting beautiful reviews on Amazon as well as on Goodreads, and the second volume (The Schism) is starting to get some pretty good reviews as well.

However, as any book from an unknown author, the beginnings are kind of slow: the books need to be "discovered", people need to read them, recommend them, their friends decide to buy them and read them as well, and so on. It takes some months (if not years) for a book, let alone a whole saga, to fully "launch".

I had already translated myself the first volume of the saga to English. However, I got some feedback regarding the fluidity of its prose, so I decided to unpublish it until I have enough money to afford a professional editing service that corrects this issue.

In the meantime, I keep writing. As you are reading this, I am currently writing the third volume of the saga (Salvation), that should end the first trilogy. There is a second trilogy planned, as well, which will include these titles: Origins, The Evolution, The Dark Period. And there is a seventh book, which will close the circle, entitled: The Great Unification.

What is Koiné?

Koiné (the world I made up) is quite huge. It's a whole planet, actually. And it's inhabited by Five Races:

• The Strong Folk: men and women of mighty force, are the most numerous Race in the planet, and the ones who live the shortest period of time: around 90 years. Their settlements are called tribes and they mint the bronze coins.
• The Thinkers: a Race of telepaths, who have established a Hive Mind Collective all over the planet. Their average life span is 300 years. Their settlements are called colonies and they mint the silver coins.
• The Aware: called that way because they are aware that this plain of existence is just an illusion that can be altered with their will power. They can live up to 2000 years. Their settlements are called ghettos and they mint the gold coins.
• The Eternals: tall and gallant, swift and acrobatic, these eternally young and beautiful individuals with slightly-pointed ears and silver tongue, never get ill, have eidetic memory, and apparently cannot die. Their settlements are called congregations and they mint the platinum coins.
• The Luminescent: beautiful beings made of pure energy, they freely roam all over the planet, never interacting with the other sentient Races. Very unattached from the matters of the physical plane, they don't have the need to own lands, nor having power over others. They can travel at light speed and can bend the space-time continuum under certain circumstances. When several of them are together, it's called a gathering, but they don't have specific settlements anywhere.

I am including in this campaign images of the book covers for the two volumes already published, as well as some maps of Koiné, included in the books to help the reader locate the places mentioned in the story.

So, what am I using the donated funds for?

I am currently fully devoted to write. This means I can advance very fast in the books, but it also means I don't have any other means for generating income, apart from my books' sales, which have been advancing slowly. I am using some savings to sustain my basic needs, but the books require making some basic investment on them:

• Editing: I self-edit my books, so I avoid that expense (around US$1,670)
• Cover design: I have designed my own covers, so I avoid that expense, too (US$400)
• Printed copies: the co-editorials request a minimum of copies (175 the less demanding one). I need to do that to have books to send to the bookstores. Amazon charges around US$7 per copy (printing, shipping and customs expenses included) sent to Costa Rica. To be able to have at least 100 copies, I would need US$700.
• Ad campaigns: In order to promote the book internationally, I need to run some ad campaigns. Previous campaigns I’ve run have costed around US$50 per month. So, for a 3-month campaign, I would need around US$150.
• Giveaways for influencers: from the 100 printed copies, I would need to reserve around 20 for influencers (Bookstagrammers, Booktubers) who might want a printed copy of the book for reading and reviewing it, as well as for giveaways among their followers. Sending individual books abroad costs around US$12 per copy. So, to reach around 10 – 12 influencers, I would need around US$150.

If my calculations are correct, I would need around US$1000 per volume, just to do a “warmup” of each book. And there are still 5 books left, that means US$5000 are needed. The more, the merrier.

Rewards, explained

The rewards I’ve set up are divided into five tiers, one per each of the Races of Koiné:

You’ll need to specify your postal address and an Amazon valid account e-mail to be able to get your rewards.
• Eternals tier: By donating a minimum of US$80, you’ll get on the address you specify and on the Amazon account you point me out a printed copy and an electronic copy of both the third and fourth volumes’ Kindle and Paperback editions, respectively, as soon as they’re released. You’ll need to specify your postal address and an Amazon valid account e-mail to be able to get your rewards.
• Luminescent tier: By donating a minimum of US$160, you’ll get on the address you specify and on the Amazon account you point me out a printed copy and an electronic copy of the third, fourth, fifth and sixth volumes’ Kindle and Paperback editions, respectively, as soon as they’re released.
