- Hartford, CT as a single mom with my two young children. I am involved in a nasty divorce with domestic violence and a restraining order on my estranged husband, who has violated it already. I had no choice but to move out of the family home, which I lost, to a small apartment in a bad area of a large city. My children are sweet, innocent and very well mannered. This is far from the environment that my kids will be in if I put them in the public schools in my town. I am heartbroken and reaching out to my community and religious circle to help me just this year to enroll them in a Catholic school where they will be safer. I have tried applying for magnet schools but was told it's too late for this year. I also qualify for the private school foundation grants but was also told too late for this year! I am not the woman that accepts help and handouts, but for my children I will do anything. I will be completely honest with you all. My children's tuition monthly for this year is $780.00 per month. I cannot swing rent, bills, food and their education by myself however those 4 things are necessities so here I am asking for help! I was awarded weekly child support; however, anyone who knows a little something about child support knows that just because it is ordered doesn't mean it gets paid. Yes, I have filed contempt several times however the family court judge just requires that my estranged ex-husband looks for 15 jobs per week, and that will keep him out of contempt. Next year I will qualify for the educational grant. I just need to get through this year. Since I work full time at more than minimum wage I do not qualify for any state assistance. Please find it in your heart to donate. Anything from $10 is a blessing. If everyone comes together I can swing this year's education costs for my children. At this point I am begging.
