Caring For Classy

This fundraiser is for a beautiful furbaby Dachshund named Classy and her owner, my wonderful sweet friend, Carla.

Classy started acting " off " on Friday afternoon and by Friday night was definitely not feeling well.

Carla called and then took her to her own vet clinic on Saturday and they administered medications for the nausea and vomiting and sent her back home that evening.

Classy's symptoms cleared up just a little but she was still very ill, not taking any liquids, severely lethargic and visibly was weak and somewhat non reactive, no wags, no kisses and not trying to seek any loves or cuddles or even reacting to them. As animals lovers, we all live in terror of one of our companions being so dreadfully ill, that they won't even respond with a tail thump or even an ear perk. It makes our hearts shatter and we feel like we can't even breathe to see one of our beloved fur kids dangerously ill.

Carla sat up with Classy to monitor her then took her to the VCA Hospital very first thing Sunday morning, where she was immediately admitted and started on an IV for the severe dehydration .

Classy is having a PCR done, and full tests across the board for kidney and liver values and monitoring, supportive treatment with IV fluids, antibiotics and the works with full hands on care and monitoring. The bill for just today, is already $1,900.00.

None of us are ever quite prepared for such financial emergencies. Some of the bill was able to be covered but for the estimated next three days and possibly more , of treatment and recovery and ongoing diagnostics for Classy's blood work and medications and in-clinic care, the cost estimate is staggering.

Carla would never dream of asking anyone anywhere, for anything, ever. Yet, she would willingly give anyone the shirt of her back without even being asked to do so. Yes, she is that kind of wonderful , loving and compassionate lady. Classy and the other furbabies, Rookie , Noodle and Viva are Carla's true children. She dotes on them every minute of every day and their happiness,health and care is her primary focus of her every day life.

It breaks my heart to hear Carla weeping for Classy but we know she will do everything in her power to save her beloved girl but such medical care often comes with staggering costs. The fear of losing a beloved companion is burden enough to bear but the financial costs also are always a very frightening factor.

Please help Classy by donating any amount you can, every dime helps, so that we can get Classy up and going, cured and back home in Carla's arms where she belongs.
