Campaign Story
For almost two years I was the primary caretaker to my mom, who was diagnosed with oral and neck cancer. It was during this time that I found my purpose in life: to care for others. It was also during this time that I realized that, as a caregiver, I had to shutdown my role as a daughter many times. This was necessary to be able to cope with the pain that my mother was going through so that I could provide the best care possible for her.
Being a part of the "sandwich" generation, I found myself juggling a full-time job, taking care of my two school-aged children and performing domestic duties while also providing 3-4 hours of care to my dying mother at her home every day. I was doing all of this on 4 to 5 hours of sleep per night. During this work of love, I realized that caregivers donate so much of themselves and most times face this challenge alone beside their loved one.
My mission is to provide respite and relief to caregivers. To take over their caregiver duties so they can recharge and return to care for their loved one with more energy and love than before. To provide nurturing and loving care to their loved one "just like if they were there."
With this funding I will build the technology to help me connect caregivers with the assistance they need. In addition; the funds will be utilized for the initial 6 months of marketing to promote the business.
I really appreciate any contributions to help me fund and promote my business to provide respite and relief to those that dedicate themselves to care for others.
