Care home Reminiscence project

Hello Everyone   I am the events and activities manager at Rock cottage Care Home and together with the Friends of Rock Cottage we are hoping that you can help.   We always cater for new ideas and welcome change to enhance our residents lives and for this fundraiser, it is no exception. Reminiscence is a massive boost to an individuals well being and health. It is extremly important for dementia patients as it triggers memorys and emotions of times gone by. This simple tecnique can provide so much.   This idea that we hope will become fruition, is to turn our dining room into a 1950's diner. The diner will have the tables, decor, music, items from 1950's, kitychen staff 1950 uniforms etc. As we are a small family run business, we rely on donations for activities/outings/luxury items so using the limited funds we have would not be possible for this project.   Care homes have had a lot of stigma over the past several years and we want to prove to people that our care home is one of the best in the country. I myself have been here for 11 years and the majority of our staff have been here for longer. We ae proud to encourage change and implement new ways of caring. Please help us in fulfilling our primary goal of bringing the best to our residents.   As the 'Friends of Rock cottage' motto goes "just because you enter a care home, life doesnt have to stop"   Any donation that you can make to our cause would be hugely appreciated   thank you for taking the time to read this :-)
