I am a LICENSED hair stylist/make-up Artist and I work with wonderful people every day.  I work in a salon and it’s difficult when I see so many wonderful opportunities to give back to the community and I am unable to offer my services. My vision is a hair salon that gives back and with the aid of another stylist who like me has the same vision, we would like to open  Vivid Twist Salon. “Vivid” meaning Bright, Full of Life and “Twist” meaning Wind Together! And, that’s what we will do, wind together to bring brightness to others. You can visit any local salon for a great cut and color, but did you know when you visit Vivid Twist you are supporting local charities through your patronage? Our ultimate goal is to ensure our customers leave looking and feeling their best. We reach further – extending our giving spirit into the community by supporting local charitable organizations.

We would also like to mentor aspiring stylist/make-up artists that can continue to pay it forward. They will adopt a shelter, donate items, participate in fundraisers and give back to those in need.

Other various events include but not limited to:

Celebrate life: Benefiting a local charity that supports the fight against cancer, by making over women and young girls in remission.

Cut-it-out:  “When life is ugly – make women beautiful”. Working with domestic violence organizations, by giving complimentary haircut and color make-over’s, bringing back self confidence.

Dress for Success: We give make-over’s to unemployed. They must go through a program that we partner with. (Resume builders, job hunt aid, etc.) We will have a professional photographer to take photos for their resume. Nothing helps more than a bright and happy make-over when job hunting.

Creative Memories: We would go into nursing homes, adult daycares, hospitals, and give make-over’s to loved ones and have them photographed. It means nothing more to a loved one to have a memory of a lifetime. And, we would be creating that memory for them.

Gift of Love: Free haircuts in exchange for back to school supplies or new unwrapped toys for under-privileged children.

Picture Perfect: This would be a contest where someone will nominate a deserving bride. We would give that bride her picture perfect day, which she is not able to have for whatever reason.

National Beauty Day: One time a year we would hold a one day event in which all proceeds from salon services go directly to the salons adopted shelter.

Shining Hope: Every year we will sponsor a young lady who is beginning high school and style her every two weeks for an entire year. These are critical years and we believe it will help build self-esteem and confidence in and out of the classroom.

Color for Hearts: We host a fashion show every February for the American Heart Association. We work exclusively with a photographer and local boutiques.

Cut is Close:  “Bald Close” – We get men involved. We shave men’s heads to raise money to benefit children’s cancer research.

Make-Over Monday:  (Twice a year event) We would give back to 4 deserving men or women in the community that are chosen based on selflessly advocating, volunteering, hard-ship, or just a selfless care giver and deserves a day. “Inner beauty can work simultaneously to bring a sense of self-worth, strength, confidence, and happiness”.

Share the Love: We will raise funds through various events to help any community world-wide that is in need following a disaster.

Outreach by haircut:  Reach out to the Department of children and families to give free back-to-school haircuts. A simple haircut can make a difference in a child’s appearance and gives students more confidence as they start the new school year.

Pink hair for hope: For every pink hair extension purchased in the month of October the proceeds will go to Susan G. Komen for cancer research.

Stands down for Vets: “Stand down “means break from battle. We give haircuts to homeless veterans. Our goal is to make these veterans’ look great and aim them towards obtaining the life they deserve and fought for through various employment services. ..Help + Interviews = Financial Hope

“You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.”

There are so many organizations that need a pair of helping hands - especially a pair of helping hands that are regularly available.

I really enjoy the intangible benefit of giving. Giving back to the community gives you a pleasant feeling of connectedness and the satisfaction of at least trying to make the world a better place.
