I want to appeal to your hearts, sensibilites and your compassion, asking you to help me continue making a change. Wroughting leaders and managing the overwhelming odds and obstacles faced by the children in my charge daily. With the permission of our SGB under the leadership of Mr. Manuel and our Principal Mr Emile Petrus I am embarking on this endeavor in my own capacity. For the past two years I have been the Care and Support Assistant( to both children and staff) at Louwville High School, in Louwville Vredenburg. Coming January starts my 3rd(third) year. Due the tremendous psycho-social and economic problems in the areas surrounding our school, and the areas our learners hail from, I have a very hectic schedule daily with the numbers of learners I help with:

• Teenage pregnancy and drug/substance abuse.
• Disciplinary problems absenteeism
• Learning barriers
• Abuse in all their forms(verbal,mental,sexual,physical)
• Career guidance
• Study methods
• Poverty
• Seeking employment
• Substitute teaching/invigilation when needed
• Hosting of the Peer2Peer Program at Louwville
• Assisting with the Value Citizen's Program

Any other need that arises for me to fill a gap (work needed to be done) I work daily from 7.30 to 17.00 availing myself to the needs of the children and the school/staff. For six months of the year I am employed by the WCED by contractual agreement, for the other 6 I am employed by the school, and due the lack of funds I source, through fundraising my own salary. From November 1st 2017 to April 30th 2018, this time around. I am therefore availing myself to your sense of compassion to our communities and to our children. Asking of you but a small amount per month to make up the salary that can enable me to be at work (remunerated)- though I will be there daily voluntarily- but also have a family to support. The school needs me there and due my absolute loyalty and commitment to it and the staff, but above all my "children" there I cannot leave them without my support and devoted assistance.

The children are counseled on the following topics:

• Taking responsibility
• Neatness
• Leadership skills
• Hard work
• Volunteerism
• Career guidance
• Facillitation
• Debating skills
• Cooking
• Budgeting
• Saving water and electricity
• Cleanliness
• How to care for those around them and who are less fortunate
• Recycling

Volunteers work with these learners five days a week between 8am and 4pm and provide after hour crisis counseling.

To keep this program running for the next few months the school needs $800 that will be used for equipment and training materials.

We want to appeal to the public to support this worthwhile cause that has made a measurable difference in this community.

The program is represented by Theresa Le Roux-Rossouw, who is one of the volunteers and is helping to coordinate the fundraising activities of the program.
