Car repairs from hit and run, and don’t have insurance can’t afford it

I am a 54 year old single mother who after resigning from work started a business which failed and I lost everything I had, business, home, money, credit and car as a result I am now staying with my daughter. I recently purchased an old car that makes so much noise when I'm driving that people turn and look but I didn't care but a week ago I was hit on the side by a taxi which kept on driving and my car had to be towed. I need to repair my car so that I can carry on trying to get on my feet again.
