Cannes Film Festival Internship – One person’s journey.

Hello,

my name is Gabrielle, I am a hard working 24 year old french Canadian who's had aspirations of working in the film industry since I was young enough to understand the difference between the words dream and goal.

I come from a loving blue collar family who instilled in me the values of a good education and loving what you do. Since I was 15 I worked in restaurants to get myself into a good university and to sustain a roof over me head! Since the age of 19 I've been eager to start my career in the film industry and have worked as a Director's assistant, Producer's assistant, Production Assistant and I have had the great opportunity of working at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) for two years now. As of August of 2015 I moved to Toronto to pursue my passion and I am very happy to say that I started an Internship at and established production company downtown. However, it is an unpaid internship and I am currently working two and at odd times three jobs to sustain a lively-hood or simply put "a roof over my head".

Finally, this brings me to the purpose of my fundraiser and why I need your help. A few months ago I applied for an internship to work along side an amazing production company at the Cannes Film festival and the Berlin Film Festival. Both internships are an amazing opportunity to meet industry professionals and get me on the road to a successful career. I was incomprehensibly pleased to find out that I was accepted to both internships and at the same time completely torn that I had to refuse acceptance to the Berlin Festival on the account that I can barely pay for one of these trips.

This is where you come in, I need your help. I cannot and will not pass up the opportunity to attend the Cannes Film Festival not only as a movie enthusiast but as an industry professional! This internship is unpaid and costs a lot of money. If you read my story and feel any sympathy what so ever any type of donation will get me one step closer to achieving a dream come true experience. Please help my cause and you will have helped one person achieve a life long journey to work as a creative entrepreneur in the film industry.
