Cancer treatment, medicine and therapy for my mum.

13 years ago my mum went under her first surgery after in a routine check-up. Her doctor found some abnormal bumps in the neck area. While the surgery was just to remove the nodules, in the middle of the surgery the doctors found that she had cancer and tried to remove everything they could of it.

This caused my mother serious mental problems, which led to seek mental help.

To this day, she has undergone surgery five times to remove the cancer and tumours that have kept coming back, leading into metastasis. Thyroid cancer is usually easy to treat, but it keeps coming back. The doctors decided that her latest surgery (March 2015) was going to be the last, because if they kept operating to remove the cancer, she could lose her voice permanently.

Just a few days ago my stepdad, who has been helping her to fund her medical treatment and surgeries, decided to break off the relationship, blaming her for it. We will have to move out as soon as possible. My mum's wage will barely cover the rent and the bills. I'm still searching for a job, and even then, it won't cover what she needs.So she has decided to stop her treatment and stop her therapy sessions with her psychiatrist. She will give up on her medicine, since is too expensive and she cannot afford the price.

Right now, we are unable to seek help in the public area, since it takes months to see a doctor, and it doesn't cover mental treatment. While it could be cheaper, we will still struggle to pay for it, and it will be a case of “too little, too late”.

Legally we can't do much because my mother and stepdad are not married, and our home is in his name, though they've worked together to get this place and turn it into a home.

We are in a desperate situation and any help is extremely welcome. Any money raised will go exclusively to pay for her medicine, her much needed mental therapy, and to pay for the doctors she has seen for all these years. The medical exams she has to take every 6 months are too expensive in our country, either public or private system.
