Cancer is a devastating illness. It has taken a few people who I personally care and love in my life and I have seen how much they have suffered. I want to tell you about one such life affected.

Meet Auntie "Ebeng" as we call her, for everybody else Evelin Regulacion- Reyes, mother to 1 daughter named Precious who is only 4 years of age. I first met auntie Ebeng 8 years ago in Manila. Although not related by blood I have grown fond of her. She is a hard working mum who loves her daughter dearly, working different jobs and finding different sidelines to make ends meet.

She was currently residing in Luzon until last July 2019 when they decided to come back to General Santos City for a while. My mother in-law was very happy when they arrived since they have not seen each other for a while. That happy reunion was short-lived when we found out that a lump had started to grow on her left breast. It's easy to say "go for treatment then?", but for a family that relies on their daily income for their daily necessities, getting ill is really not an option. Auntie Ebeng decided to go with alternative healing instead as she was hesitant (scared) to do chemotherapy. She changed her diet, drank different herbal remedies, it seemed to have worked the first few months. She called one day panicking that there was oozing in her left breast and something seemed to have popped. Her lump from that day on started to grow bigger. Auntie Ebeng did not lose hope and sees her alternative healing doctor when she has enough funds to go for treatment.

When covid-19 struck the country this families income became really tight, auntie Ebeng not able to go to her treatments made her weaker as the days went by. She was able to go back to get treatment a few days back as her friends & family were able to gather a few amount to help her out. The doctor had advised her that due to how far her condition is she needed to be brought to St. Elizabeth Cancer Care Centre, on arrival she was interviewed, but to her dismay turned away as she could not pay for the treatment that they will offer (3rd world country healthcare).

Auntie Ebeng is not one to ask for any assistance. She is a proud mum who has always paid her way. So I am asking for any assistance anyone can offer with her battle against the big C.

God bless you more!
