Hello, I am a disabled wife and caregiver for my husband who is dying of genetic lung cancer. He is 55 years old and I am 45. We have an 11 year old child and each and every month it is getting tighter and tighter to live on the Social Security Disability my husband gets. I took off to raise our son for 5 years only to find out when I came down with and became permanently and increasingly disabled from Guillain-Barre syndrom in 06 that because of the new rules for Social Security Disability had changed and the points I had accrued over the last 20 years no longer counted. They only count within the decade from when you became disabled and I had taken off to stay with our son till he got into school.

Well at that time my husband had a decent job working for a mining company and he was virtually guaranteed of retiring from them so we didn't worry too much that I couldnt even recieve SSI which is dependant on the income you have and because my husband had a job I couldnt get help that way either. But like I said, we tightened our belts and tried to trust things would work out.

In 09 my husband had a cough a little too long after a cold and a very wise Doctor took an x-ray. He had stage 4 metastisized lung cancer that if it hadn't been found when it had been he would have been dead in a month.

He has fought valiently for the last 3 years but now that he is ONLY on Social Security and my disbaility is increasing and I have no insurance because we live in Arizona and cannot afford to move to a state where I can see my own doctors, we have to pay for all my meds, and even though I am resourceful and have found all the places that help me with discounts, my meds add up between 100-300 dollars a month alone. And now his Medicare hasnt been paying for his healthcare as much as it did at first and we are getting bills left and right.

Of course we have a washer and dryer that are over a decade old and I have been babying them as much as possible. The washer is so old it leaks some kind of oil and ruins our white clothing which we cannot afford to replace and has recently started whining when it washes and then the Dryer now is simply not drying like it used to, it takes two run throughs of 90 minutes to get clothing dry.

You may ask WHY am I asking for so much for the pair when I can get a cheaper pair for a few hundred less? Well I have been doing my research and it is very important for my husbands towels and washcloths etc. to be sanitised and a regular cheapo dryer wont do that. I may be disabled myself but I am trying to do the best that I can to take the very best care that I can to have my husband around for our son for as long as possible. Every little bit that I can do to make things cleaner in any way I can help him.

I TRULY appreciate anyone who helps us get this washer and dryer because there is NO WAY that we can ever afford to get them and I am very worried.

All I can offer in return is my sincere thank you in a card.
