For those who had journeyed with us, offered their financial help, prayers love and support, we thank you very dearly.

Our dear sister Giovanni Frances “Banban” Lapinid-Salas has joined our creator at 10mins before 2am, 16 June 2018. She was asleep and was surrounded by family and friends who loved her very much.

She had fought a good fight and was fighting till the end.

We ask you to continue praying for her eternal repose.

We will update the details for her interment once available.

This is her story.-------------------------------------------------------------------

Giovanni Frances, 32 years old and fondly known as Ban-Ban, has been diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer 4 years ago. She had her ovaries removed and had two chemotherapy sessions after her operation. Life has been normal for her with her young family, not until it came back again and it is stronger this time.

She had her first symptoms last December 2017 with complaints of back pains and lethargy. The initial diagnosis were pneumonia and tuberculosis, not knowing it was her cancer cells again. She was admitted twice in OSPA (Ospa Farmers Medical Center, Ormoc) in January due to difficulty of breathing and back pains. We sought for another opinion in a hospital in Cebu City and there we found out that it was cancer. She was diagnosed with recurrent Ovarian cancer with bone and lung metastates.

The doctor had immediately recommended for 6 chemotherapy sessions. We are committed to pay for her 6 Chemo sessions since it is nothing compared to the life of your loved one. One chemotherapy session costs between 17,000- 30,000 php. She had her 1st chemo session last February 2018. We all thought it was in the early stages. She is such a fighter and we are willing to fight with her. Not until the 3rd session did we learn that her chemotherapy treatments were not working at all. Her CA-125 level had gone up and her laboratory test results were not really good at all.

We are worried for her but we never lost hope. She was admitted again in OSPA again last April 2018. Both her lungs has continuously produced water and a certain amount of water has reached her heart. For days, water was drained from her lungs and her heart. Her blood pressure was low and her heartbeat was low as well. She was in a lot of pain that the doctors had to use morphine every 4 hours to ease the pain. Even between that, the nurses were advised to give additional pain killers if she complained of pain. She was discharged after 32 days stay in the hospital since her blood pressure and heartbeat normalized and they were able to administer another session of chemotherapy. For her long stay in the hospital, the bill has reached to almost 500,000 PHP, not including some medications that need to be bought from outside pharmacies, roughly between 8,000- 12,000 PHP almost on a daily basis. As long as she continues to fight for her life, we will continue to fight for her.

After 26 hours away from the hospital, she was re-admitted again since she was not feeling very well. She stayed in the hospital for 1 week and had another chemotherapy session before going home. Arrangements were made so that she has a caregiver while staying at home. We are very hopeful that she is getting better but not until June 8th.!Her food intake has lessened for a couple of days and she is getting weaker day by day. Her memory is failing as well.

Ban-ban is admitted to the hospital again as of June 8th, afternoon. She is still very much willing to fight and willing to live even with her current status of ovarian cancer Stage IV (Lung and Bone metastates). But it has come to a point that we are having difficulties of supporting her medical bills and her future chemotherapy sessions. Our friends and family have been extremely supportive since the beginning of this battle last January. We are extremely grateful as they continue to help us and offer their prayers. We are currently seeking help from the wider community, both in prayers and in finances. We are knocking on your hearts to please help our sister for her medical bills as she continue this battle day by day, especially for her daughter. We are very thankful for whatever amount you can offer and we pray that God will reward you a thousand-fold.

God is the author of our life. We lift up everything to him! Please help us give Ban-Ban a fighting chance to live.
