Cancer Free on the Amalfi Coast

Hi everyone! I'm setting up this fundraiser on behalf of my mother. At the beginning of this year my family got a horrible shock when my mom found a large tumor in her breast. Always being the pinnacle of health, we were overcome with grief to learn that the tumor was cancer. Not only that but she had tested positive for the BRCA2 gene which puts her at a higher risk to get breast cancer again in the future. So my mom made the decision to get a double mastectomy, which was probably one of the most difficult decisions a woman has to make. After successfully removing the cancer from her body the doctor recommended four months of chemo because of the size of the tumor that they removed.

My mom just finished her last round of chemo five days ago and it was a very exhausting, and sometimes, incredibly painful sixteen weeks for her and my entire family who was there to take care of her. In the next coming weeks she’s going to go through multiple reconstruction surgeries and doctor visits so I thought I’d try to surprise her with this trip at the end of all of this.

She’s always dreamed of taking a trip to the Amalfi Coast in Italy and if I had the money to spend I would take her there in a heartbeat. But being a newly graduated graduate student, my bank account is nowhere near to the amount it would need to be in the take her on such a trip.

So here I am, asking the internet community for help to make this trip happen for my mom. She is the most amazing and strong woman I’ve ever met. She not only raised five children, but she also went back to school to get her degree in education so she could become a math teacher and educate students with special needs. She never missed any of her children’s sporting events, concerts, graduations, or presentations, and always had dinner on the table every single night. She’s an incredible and beautiful person who went through hell this last year and deserves a trip she will never forget. Please help me raise the money and make the end of this experience for her a good one! Thank you!
