Greece is in crisis. It has asked for a new bailout programme, banks are shut, the stock exchange shut and it owes creditors €1.6billion, with a deadline of this evening.

Months of negotiations over its mammoth €271billion debt have failed to produce an agreement and has left the country in turmoil.

Now, one plucky Londoner has set up a crowdfunding page in a bid to keep the country afloat. It aims to raise €1.6billion – and at the time of writing, more than €150,000 has been raised from nearly 10,000 kind-hearted people wanting to help.
