This year I have made the late decision to go out and volunteer in Cambodia for 2 weeks from the 6th of July – 20th of August with an organisation called Camps International. But I need to raise £1145 before the 25th of June in order to do this! (Better late than never!)
My initial plan was just too out to East Asia for a month experience a different culture, have a good time living it up with all the lady boys! ;) (Joke) But on a serious note I realised that I have all year at University to have a good time and that while in a Country that is far worse off than the one I live in I may as well try to make a difference.
The programmes main objective is to improve the standards of living for the villagers and access to education and employment. Current projects involve supporting an orphanage, construction, teaching and sustainable farming initiatives. I am particularly interested in orphanage work and would like to spend most of my time there.
There will be a coffee morning in my house on the 8th JUNE where we can all stuff our faces with homemade cake and have mighty good craic. For all my friends who live far away from my home I have set up a page where you can help the cause and donate online.
I would be unbelievable grateful for ANY donations (small or large) and you get that warm fuzzy feeling of helping those worse off than you. Hooray!
