We intend to produce 4 to 8 YouTube videos a month of English-speaking Cambodian people trying things from around the world, similar to other popular "Try" videos online for education and entertainment and to help support a village school through our YouTube Channel .

The videos will consist of Cambodians (18-25 years approx.) tasting things for the first time in pairs and talking about their reactions and impressions of things like cakes, cookies, candies, sweets and chips and other imported snacks they have never tried.

The entire production will be centered around a group of young English language teachers who are students themselves and who teach young Cambodian children the English language at a small, makeshift school in their village. Called ‘The Gavin School' (after the founder's American grandson) the project's webpage is https://www.kidsonthebridge.org/ and the Cambodians Try project will be used to raise awareness and assist this endeavor directly in addition to give the teachers additional income to help their own families.

Twenty year old English teacher and student herself as well as an aspiring musician, Han Rin organized the effort out of her own initiative to help her village and start the school.
In her own words:

"My name is Rin Han and I am 20 years old. I live in a small village near the airport and I am a student where I study English at ACE school. I love making music as I play guitar, violin and drums and I also like editing video. My violin teacher is from France and is a good music teacher.

Why did I decide to try and make a village school by myself?

I decided to open the village school because I just wanted to share my knowledge to the kids who have no money to go English school. I want to give them some lessons in English so that they can have a good future. When I finish studying my English lessons in the afternoon I give them a lesson every week. Right now we are trying to make a library for the people in my village. Then if villagers want to read a book or they want to borrow a book they can come read at my house or they can owe the book to go home and read.

I really hope that I can help them more!"

Our budget is currently projected for US$300.00 per episode to pay the talent, production staff and support the overhead and logistics. We plan for at least 6 months or between 24 - 48 episodes prepared with an initial 4 episode release approximately 2 months after production begins. The entire run would be online early in 2022 with first uploads starting last quarter of 2021.
Total budget to be between $7,200 - $14,400 for the first season.

  • Episodes: 24 - 48
  • Episode Budget: US$300
  • Season Start : Late 2021
  • Season Ends : Spring 2022
  • Total Budget: $7,200 - $14,400

Unlike other YouTube Content Creators we will not be able to monetize our videos because of YouTube and Paypal restrictions here in Cambodia and we will not be able to share in any of Youtube's profits from the views of our video content.

Future plans include Cambodian Kids Try, Cambodian Villagers Try & Cambodian Elders Try with subtitled videos as special episodes once the initial season is complete. We intend on creating ongoing collaboration with Cambodian people to support The Gavin School and extend the assistance to other children where possible.
Visit https://www.kidsonthebridge.org/ to learn more about the teachers and the school and to help them through their own funding outreach.

Pre-production
is already started even without a budget due to the eagerness and enthusiasm of the young Cambodian teachers who see the project as an opportunity to introduce the world to Cambodia and Cambodia to the world.
