Cambodia Village Community Stadium Project

Having worked and volunteered in these small villages in central Cambodia, the Chong Duong village and Toul Damnak village in the Baray District has many school going children who do not enjoy the luxury of having a proper field to exercise or play games on, not even a proper basketball court to play on.

Most public schools do not have a proper field and even if they do, the poor villagers will use them to plant padi for their consumption and harvest. Moreover, it gets flooded during the wet season. The majority of the villagers earn less than US$200/month either by working or selling wooden furniture, charcoal, bricks, rice, vegetables, provisions, etc. The average salary of a graduate teacher in a public school is US$200/mth as well. Although living in very tight means, the children there have so much potential in the area of sports and games as they learn to cycle a 2-wheeler bicycle at the age of 3, young kids climbing trees at 4, playing football daily on the dirt pitch and able to ride a motorbike at 9.

By providing a full football turf field with a proper care programme, the villagers will benefit in developing not only their sports skills but the field could also be a venue for large scale community festival events as well. The regional football games could also be held at this proper football field where the local talents can have the opportunity to be scouted.

I've been volunteering in this Cambodian village since 2014 and we're looking for like minded people who are willing to give a little to allow the village to enjoy proper football games and sports events held for the community.

The maintenance of the field would be monitored by the village chief and his team after the development is complete.
