Cambodia Orphanage Expedition

Aloha!

As most of my friends and family are familiar with, I packed up my entire life in Hawaii, took off to study Nutrigenomics on exchange at National University of Singapore, and sent my Foxhound, Kana, on exchange with the sitter in Nashville, Tennessee until the middle of July. While on exchange (where I am still currently) I had the pleasure of visiting Cambodia :)  The children completely won over my heart.  However, many of them are sold by their parents (mainly poor) to pimps who promise to take care of them. Instead, the young kids are peddled around the streets from early morning hours to very late at night (between 3 and 4am) to sell trinkets and beg for money from tourists.  They turn over all the money to their owners, are barely fed and clothed and have no shot at ever falling into a life with education, proper shelter or care. I've decided to do something about this by starting my own non profit.  Orphanages to house children that are 'bought back' centered around providing primary education and safe house for these kids. Additionally, carrying a secondary education focused around personal and community nutrition.  Unfortunately, I have to familiarize myself with the social structure here, as well as, the orphanage infrastructure.  I have no experience!  I have organized a volunteer mission through New Hope Volunteers, the Orphanage Project, Cambodia...you can find the details here.  Now, I need to raise the funds to make this happen!!!  The fee schedule is listed here, plus the cost of the flight, etc.

I have been working really hard over here in SE Asia and am striving to be the change I would like to see in the world!  Please help turn this dream into a reality and contribute to the first steps of creating a self sustainable non profit organiziation to benefit these children for years to come!
