My name is John Michael Mercado. I am the eldest son of Ismael Mercado Jr and we are from Santa Barbara, Pangasinan, Philippines.

On December 12, 2021 at around 8:00 PM, we rushed my father to the community hospital in Mapandan, Pangasinan due to severe headache, high blood pressure, and vomiting. Then we transferred him to a bigger hospital as recommended by the community hospital as there are signs of mild stroke and he can’t move the left side of his body. He was admitted at The Medical City Pangasinan and immediately sent to emergency CT scan and x-ray because his condition suddenly deteriorated. CT scan results showed there is bleeding in his brain. The doctor's initial finding is a brain aneurysm but needs to undergo an angiogram to confirm and to plan the next steps.

On Dec 14, 2021, the neurosurgeon confirmed that he has ruptured aneurysm and immediately undergone major surgery to stop the bleeding with the following procedures – craniotomy, clipping of aneurysm, EVD placement, and evacuation of ICH . After almost 3 hours of waiting, Praise God! The surgery was successful. God is good and faithful. We believed God has still plans for him. All throughout these times, the only things that we hold on to are prayers, miracles, hope, and trust in God.

He stayed in ICU for recovery and remain intubated for more than 3 weeks. Then on Jan. 6, 2022, Tracheostomy was performed to prevent complications on his lungs due to a longer period of intubation and to secure his airway.

Currently, he’s in the regular room after almost a month in the ICU. We’re just waiting for the doctor's advice when he will be discharged. However, the hospital running bill is around Php 1.3 Million (~ $26,000) excluding doctors’ professional fees and it continues to increase. With the size of the bill we could not afford to pay it all and get out of the hospital because our savings were also depleted. So, our family is knocking at your heart and humbly asking your help for any amount that you may share. I believe it is not an accident that you are reading this story. We really need someone like you a God-sent angel who can help and support us. Any amount is a huge help. The funds will be used to cover the remaining bills, maintenance medicines, medical supplies and equipment, and therapy.

We are also asking you to SHARE this with everyone you know so we can quickly reach the goal. Thank you in advance and May the Lord continue to bless you and protect you all the time.
