Calais Refugee Aid cooking van fundraiser

We are Calais Refugee Aid who currently offer aid, support and hot meals to the people of Calais 'The Jungle" and the Dunkirk camps in France.

We are out there each weekend offering the much needed help, the greatest things we have found to be needed are a hot meal each day, we provide this for free and over each weekend we manage to feed 700-1000 refugees this is a drop in the ocean compared to the 2000 people in Dunkirk and 3500-4000 in Calais.

We have been taking down hot food cooked in the UK and then heating and distributing it out of the back of our vans but this isn't the most practical way to go about a hot food distribution, we are looking to buy a hot meals van which would allow us to buy the ingredients, drive to the camps, prepare the food and distribute it fresh from being cooked. This would also allow us to be able to feed more people at a time as well as being able to take over more fresh food to distribute each time. There wouldn't be a limit on the amount of people we could feed from one pot of rice we have already taken over as we could prepare more if needed for them.

As you can see from the photos we distributed from the back of a hire van this weekend which was hard work due to the huge queue and high demand to get it out in a timely manner, on the Sunday we were able to get access to a burger van which allowed us to distribute much easier through the serving hatch allowing them to get the food pots and food bags much easier too. In the photos you can also see the huge line waiting to be fed.

By donating to this fund you can help us gain much needed funds to help get a van to be able to do the above this will also allow us to eventually go further afield and help people in need not just in France.

Please donate what ever you can to help this cause, any money raised above the total of the van bought (we are currently looking at different ones etc) will be used to kit the van out with utensils, pots, pans and gas, any above that would then go in to getting food needed.

We as volunteers are also currently donating to the cause each and every weekend but we also need your help to push this further and help the people in the camps get at least one hot nutritious meal a day.

This would also allow us to do a few days in each camp being able to offer at least one hot meal a day for them as aid and hot food is sparse during the week when volunteers usually work.
